These darkly humorous moments of anguish are so convincing is because many of the stunts are very much real. Coca-Cola products make several appearances in the film, including in the scene where Kevin rides a limousine, and when Kevin's cousin Fuller wakes up at the Plaza Hotel. The address of Rob McCallister's house being renovated is 51 West 95th Street. This address is on the Upper West Side, a half-block from Central Park. This movie was actually shot at the Plaza in a Central Park suite.
Kevin is missing, trouble in Paris
Kevin bolts into the garage with Marv and Harry in hot pursuit. Harry and Marv end up triggering extra traps that Kevin had set up in the garage. Kevin watches as Marv ends up triggering a trap where a running lawnmower falls on his head . At the short range that Johnny shoots him, at least some of the bullets would have gone right through Snakes and broken the window. Kevin wakes up the next morning and calls for his mother, but is disappointed to find that he is still alone.
Numerous video games based on Home Alone 2 were released by THQ for such systems as the Sega Genesis, the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy and personal computers, mostly in late 1992. Numerous board games were also released, some based around play cards, while another was a close emulation of the classic Mouse Trap. Augustine Frizzell was hired to serve as director, with a script written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider based on the story concept by Fox Executive, Matt Reilly. The project was to be a joint-venture production under Reynolds' Fox-based Maximum Effort Productions, while George Dewey serving as an executive producer. The premise of the proposed project was stated as 'reminiscent of the hallowed comedy classic'. The plot centers on a weed-growing 'loser' who misses his plane for a holiday skiing trip. He decides to get high, and as the paranoia side-effects set in, he believes he hears a break-in.

On Christmas Eve, Kevin visits a toy store whose kindly owner, Mr. Duncan, plans to donate the day's sale proceeds to a children's hospital. After Kevin makes a donation, Mr. Duncan gives him a pair of ceramic turtledoves in thanks, instructing him to give one to another person as a gesture of eternal friendship. The concierge at the Plaza confronts Kevin about his use of Peter's credit card, now reported as stolen; Kevin flees the hotel but is caught by the Wet Bandits.

She pelts the bandits with a bucket full of birdseed, prompting pigeons to swoop down on them and swarm them. Kevin flees and sets off fireworks that he bought earlier to signal the police, who arrest the bandits and discover Kevin's photographs and tape recording to use as evidence against them. A sixth film was released digitally on Disney+ on November 12, 2021, titled Home Sweet Home Alone. Devin Ratray, who played Buzz McCallister in the first two films, reprised his role in the film.
Still in the end it was warming that Buzz and Kevin in their own way made amends, and Frank became, probably for that part anyway, nicer to Kevin. Though the laughter in itself was unrealistic, it is not that entirely implausible to occur in real life situations, and not just from children, but even from adults, and even at the worst of times and in the least of places. What happened to Kevin was not entirely far fetched family wise either.
It’s never mentioned in the film, but the Pennywise actor’s charming doorman did actually have a name in the script. The New York hotel offers a ‘Live Like Kevin’ package that includes a complimentary ice cream sundae cart, a 25th anniversary backpack and all of the Home Alone DVDs. The Plaza – a super-fancy hotel where Kevin stays during the film – was then owned by POTUS.
Too many sequels suffer from Deja Vu, and hardly any of those carbon copies improve upon the original. Home Alone 2 is a carbon copy, but it's also much better and more complex a movie than the first. In another mad rush to the airport the McCallisters make a point of remembering Kevin this time, but he gets lost in a crowd at the airport and follows a man who looks like his dad onto the wrong plane. Thirteen of the McCallisters are going to Miami for Xmas (do they never stay at home?) but Kevin is headed for the Big Apple, and he's going to have that once-in-a-lifetime vacation he's been wishing for. In an advertisement short film titled Home Alone Again with the Google Assistant for the Google Assistant published on December 19, 2018, Macaulay Culkin reprised his Home Alone role as Kevin McCallister. The ad recreates scenes from the original 1990 film, where Kevin shaves his face, jumps on his parents bed, and decorates a Christmas tree all while asking the Google Assistant to set reminders for him.
As with basically every movie, “Home Alone 2” went through a few drafts and alterations. In one of the production drafts, there is a scene at the end of the movie where a police officer talks to the Pigeon Lady. They call her “Annie” and invite her to come down to the station for hot chocolate. Eventually, that scene was cut, and thus the real name of the Pigeon Lady remained unknown. A lot of the film is shot in New York, naturally, but Hughes also loved to shoot movies in Winnetka, a suburb of Chicago. It’s where the McCallister house was, but it’s also the city where Hughes shot films like “Ferris Bueller,” “Sixteen Candles, “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” and more.
This annoys Kevin and he sees Fuller smirking at him when he drinks a can of Pepsi. Knowing Fuller was deliberately doing this to pee on him while sleeping, Kevin is angered further. Buzz then begins to feign throwing up, asking for a plate from Kevin. An infuriated Kate breaks up the fight between Buzz and Kevin and demands Kevin to explain his behavior. He replies that it is Buzz's fault for eating the whole plain cheese pizza on purpose, then begins ranting on how he hates sausage, olives, onions, and similar toppings.
John Candy was available for only one day to film his scenes, which took 23 hours to shoot. He was paid only $414, since he did the film as a favor to Hughes. In return, he was the only actor Hughes allowed to go off-script; according to Columbus, all his dialogue was improvised. Hughes had asked Patrick Read Johnson to direct, but he was committed to directing Spaced Invaders. He turned to Chris Columbus, who had left National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation before shooting started because of a personality clash with starring actor Chevy Chase, who Columbus said treated him "like dirt". Hughes gave him the scripts for both Home Alone and Reach the Rock; Columbus chose to direct Home Alone, as he found it funnier and liked the Christmas theme.
